Overlays and inked edges for digital scrapbooking

I've made three overlays to match yesterdays' papers. In the picture you can see them all merged together; there is a white inked edge, a dark, brown inked edge and a swirly, flourishy overlay. These flourishes matches exactly the ones on one of the papers, so you can layer a photo in between.
Tips: use the option sliders in your Layer palette, and change the OPACITY of the overlays if they seem too strong for your purpose. To centre the overlay perfectly, hold the SHIFT key when you drop it onto your layout.

Valentine digital scrapbooking freebie, pearls

There are not many hearts in this Valentine pack, but there are pearls and roses! Totally free, you will get a paper, a bracket shape mat, pearly shapes, a black bar and a glittery clip. I could call it a snag, but I don't think you'll mind: the clip is in TIFF file format. I have experimented a lot lately with metal and glitter, and no matter how realistic it looks in Photoshop, as soon as I save the items as a .PNG, they lose all their luster and shine, and look naff and kind of cartoony. Apparently .png is not a very high quality file format, but it is convenient, since .TFF files are astronomous in size. The golden clip in this download is 2.46Mb all on its own. Compare that to the 12" paper in .JPG which is 1.61Mb. So, this is not something that I'm going to do often, but if I want Bling it seems to be a necessity! If any of you scrappers out there have any advice about this, pleeeeeease write me a comment! Also, the .TFF file has retained the two layers that this clip consists of, but I have locked them together so that it wont cause you any hastle when you work with this. Let me know how you got on. Maybe enclosing .TFF files for digital scrapbooking is a really bad idea? If you don't like the .TFF file, you can always save it over as a .PNG. Actually, why not save a copy of it as a .PNG and check out the difference?

Digital scrapbooking freebie, quick page, Valentine's

Well, hello! I got a drawing pad for my computer this Christmas, something that's been on my wish list for a looooong time! It is fabulous for painting, but I find it very difficult to do precise line drawings as per yet. I meant to upload some patterned papers for you, with rag dolls and robots, but I will have to practise a bit more before I publish them. But I do have a painted heart, and some beaded squiggles that I drew with the electronic pen, that I can share with you. I also put in a pink, and a blue paper in the package.

To download the pack with one heart, five squiggles and two papers CLICK HERE.

I've made an example lay-out, to show how you can use these elements. If you work in Photoshop, you can even download the .psd file as a quick page, and rearrange it all to your Hearts delight! Plus get a sneak peek on how I made the blue paper. Mind, even though this file is zipped, it is huge, and will take some time to download if you haven't got a fast connection! So, not for the faint of Heart! It took me about three minutes to download on my broadband. Give it a go!

Holiday hollies, digital scrapbooking glitter decor

Well, after that "minor" interlude I think it is time to post something again, don't you? And, since it is soon time for a lot of people to celebrate Christmas, I thought it a perfect time to try my hand on working with digital glitter. These days it looks very realistic, especially on-screen, but when you print a card or lay-out out, it might look a bit un-lively. But here's a tip: if you've got some Stickles glitter glue, it is fairly easy to top the printed glitter up with the real thing, et voila! Sparkle on! (Click on the picture to see better detail.)

Inked bracket mat edges, scrapbooking freebies

I have made some inked edges to fit the bracket mats. Don't forget that you can change the appearance of the ink by adjusting the Opacity, so you can make them more subtle than they are. Look at the Layer palette to the right of the screen, under the Layers tab. There is an Opacity slider there, experiment with that. You will get three inked edges in this pack, enjoy!

Garage kit, ribbons and brackets, scrapbooking freebie

Here are some more elements. I have applied a faint drop shadow to them, in this picture. It will always make the finished result look more realistic. I am still working on the tutorial for Layer Styles and Drop shadows, I'll let you know when it is uploaded. Click this picture to see in more detail.
